Owning the right pair of golf shoes can mean the difference between a great game of golf and a miserable, uncomfortable experience. Believe it or not, a lot of technology goes into manufacturing the right golf shoes.

As such, it is essential to know a lot about the pair of shoes you want before you commit to a purchase. We all know that Sketchers features a popular range of athletic shoes, but you might not know much about the company’s golf shoe lineup.

The company specializes in a spikeless version of golf shoes that still feature traction and waterproof material. But how do these shoes hold up under the stress of the game?

Luckily, you came to the right place. In this Skechers Golf Shoe review, we will take a brief look at the catalog and then provide a more in-depth analysis of the brand’s most popular model. So, if you want to know whether the shoes represent a good investment, then keep on reading.

What Are Skechers Golf Shoes?

Generally speaking, the Sketchers brand usually puts comfort at the forefront of their design when making golf shoes. This design typically means that the shoes feature either spikeless or soft spike capabilities. So, if you prefer hard spikes while shopping, then you should consider a different brand.

With that said, all the shoes in the golf category are incredibly comfortable, so sore feet probably will not fall under your list of complaints. The Skechers brand offers a wide variety of excellent golf shoes for men and women — too many to cover in one review.

As such, we decided to pick the most popular model and review it so that you can get a good sense of the best of the best. In this case, we went with Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3.

However, we do recommend searching the Sketchers catalog if you want a slightly more affordable product. But, for the rest of the review, we will be looking exclusively at the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3.

Now that we know a little bit about the Sketchers brand of golf shoes let us look closer at the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe product specifications. The company makes the shoes out of a mixture of leather and synthetic material.

The material is waterproof, so an early morning round of golf in wet grass will not ruin your shoes and your experience.  The bottom of the shoes uses a TPU grip for an added layer of durability while you golf. The bottom of the shoes does not feature spikes, which some golfers may prefer.

The insoles use a soft cushioning material from the Resamex company, which add a significant layer of comfort when you spend most of your day in movement and on your feet.

The Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe comes with nine different color scheme options you can choose from including black/white, white/navy, charcoal/red, black, chocolate, gray/lime, white/gray, white/navy/lime and stone.

The price for Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe depends both on the size you get and the color selection. The range can vary between fifty dollars and two hundred and fifteen dollars.

However, these two prices represent the extremes of the model. Most sizes and color costs an average of one hundred dollars — so you can probably expect the product to cost somewhere around this price.

How the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe Compares with other Golf Shoes

In this section of the Skechers golf shoe review, we compare the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe with two other popular golf shoe models. Specifically, we compare it with the Adidas Men’s Tech Response Golf Shoes and the New Balance Men’s Nbg2004 Waterproof Spiked Comfort Golf Shoe.

We make these comparisons so we can gather the strengths and weaknesses associated with the Sketcher brand when it comes to their golf shoes. We also include it so customers can have some other options while shopping if they decide Skechers is not for them.

If you want a slightly more affordable version of the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe, then the Adidas Men’s Tech Response Golf Shoes are a good alternative. The shoe costs between forty-three and ninety-two dollars depending on the size and color pattern you get.

The shoes come with four different color schemes and a modern look (though in our opinion they look more like basketball shoes than golf shoes). Also, if you find that your regular golf shoes get too hot on your feet during the day, then the Adidas Men’s Tech Response Golf Shoes represent another excellent option.

The footwear uses a mixture of synthetic leather and breathable mesh product, so your feet can get some air throughout the game. Unfortunately, the shoes are not perfect. The mesh material in the shoes means that they do get a little wetter than the other shoes on this list.

Also, many users complained that the comprehensive size option actually feels more narrow. So, anyone with wide feet should consider a separate brand.

If you prefer a recognizable name brand that offers a great pair of spiked golf shoes, then we think you will prefer the New Balance Men’s Nbg2004 Waterproof Spiked Comfort Golf Shoe over the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe.

Like the Skechers brand, the synthetic leather material does an excellent job of providing the golf look while adding a layer of water protection from wet grass.

The New Balance Men’s Nbg2004 Waterproof Spiked Comfort Golf Shoe costs between fifty and one hundred fifty dollars depending on the size you get and the color. Unfortunately, the brand does offer a more limited color selection than the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe.

You can get them in three color schemes: black/green, white/red and blue/grey. Unfortunately, the shoes do come with some issues. Some customers reported a lingering, ammonia smell. Other users report that the shoe contract over time, so you should order them in a larger size than you usually would.

Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe Pros and Cons

In this section, we will go over some of the things we like about the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe and some things that we think could use improvement. We include both our own opinions and views from user reviews, so we get a more full and objective view of the product.

Pros

The Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe has a lot going for them in terms of their pros. The best thing these shoes are good at is keeping water outside of the pump itself. If you play during the summer, then you know the pain of wet morning grass. These shoes do a great job of combating against that.

Also, if you think because the shoes being spikeless causes them to have less traction, then think again. The shoes work well at holding on to the grass so you will not slip or slide while taking up your shot.

We loved the insoles on the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe and found that we could walk in them all day without feeling uncomfortable. Many customers reported that they could wear them comfortable right out of the box with no break-in period.

This pro means you do not need to suffer for a day just so your feet can get used to the shape and feel of the shoes. While on the topic of feel, these shoes also come with an extraordinary sense of lightness.

Even when they get wet, they do not feel more substantial with the water. As such, we highly recommend the gold shoes for people who feel that their current golf shoe brings too much weight to their game.

  • Work well at keeping water out
  • Great traction despite no spikes
  • Incredibly comfortable insoles for most people
  • No long break in period
  • Feel light on the feet

Cons

Unfortunately, the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe does come with some problems that need addressing before anyone commits to it. First off, the sizing runs a bit higher than the company says it does.

So, we generally recommend getting a size above your usual size unless you do not mind your golf shoes feeling particularly tight. We found that despite the modern appearance, the coloring that comes with the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe is a bit bland.

The shoes do not come with a pure white option, so it makes matching them with outfits a little more complicated. However, if you do not care about style, then this concern does not matter.

Also, some people complained that despite the waterproof design water still soaks into the leather like material on the outside of the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe. For some colors in the series, particularly the lighter ones, it can leave an unpleasant staining effect once you get off the course.

Also, if you struggle with foot conditions like bunions or something similar, then you may want to consider getting a more ergonomic-focused golf shoe. Some people complained that the stitching on the interior of the shoe causes them foot pain.

Also, beware that even though they say spikeless, they still are hard golf shoes. As such, you are wearing them on hard floors will likely cause scratching and scoffing. So, if you want to wear golf shoes both inside and outside, then the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe may not be for you.

  • Sizes run a bit on the high side
  • Styling is a little boring
  • Color bleeds when soaking wet
  • Gave some people with foot issues pain
  • You cannot wear them on sensitive floors

Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe Review Conclusion

Altogether, we think you most people will love the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe. Unless you experience foot pain or prefer wearing your golf shoes inside and outside, then we do not think you will be disappointed.

The price might dissuade some people from committing to the product, but we find it to be a worthwhile investment.

While some of the money might go toward the recognizable brand name, we think the waterproof nature of the shoe, as well as the comfort and performance,  let it stand on its own as great golf shoes with or without the Sketchers label.

As such, we give the Skechers Men’s Go Golf Elite 3 Shoe a final rating of five stars out of five stars. However, as we mentioned before, we do recommend buying the shoes in a larger size than the one you usually get. Otherwise, you may find them too tight for your golf needs.

We hope this Skechers golf shoe review helped you decide whether or not the brand offers the things you look for in a shoe.

Professional golf players might scoff at the style, but for the most part, we found these shoes to be a dependable product that makes the game a lot comfier. Plus, they might even improve your performance. Good luck with your next golf match!
